Summative Assesment

This semester has gone by so fast! PE has been a lot of fun!
This year, I think PE was different because we got to direct our learning by choosing what we wanted to do for PE. I got to try so many new things such as lacrosse, rugby and even golf!
I made many new friends and got to know old ones even better.
Throughout the semester, I've always been on time to class and punctual by bringing my PE strip.
I've also been open to trying new activities such as yoga instead of usual choice activities. P.E in the morning was actually to my benefit because it really woke me up and gave me energy for the rest of the day!

My fitness level has really increased over the semester because of fitness twice a week and dance I did outside of school. I am able to run for longer and not feel pain. I improved 2 beep test levels and I also achieved my highest score! It was a great surprise! I put my mind to it and kept telling myself this is my last chance to get a good score. When I go for runs outside of school, I can keep running without wanting to stop because I've learnt to keep a constant pace. I like to run because it gives me a chance to clear my mind and think. I contribute to class dynamics by having a positive attitude towards new activities and motivating my classmates. I also contribute by helping with equipment before and after the activities.

To me, being physically educated is knowing what our bodies need in order to be healthy. It's about being creative and being able to enjoy a healthy and fit lifestyle. It's about eating healthy, being in good shape and getting the right amount of sleep. I think it's important for people to realize having a positive attitude towards fitness and healthy eating is very crucial. Our minds need to be prepared for how our body is going to feel while working out. We will feel tired and painful but that's all part of exercising, which always leads to feeling good in the end. I am ready for independence because I've learnt so much this year. I've learnt that your mind gives up a lot earlier than your body actually does.
I've learnt to prepare myself before doing any fitness activity so I don't quit so easily. I've learnt to not be afraid of trying new things and trying to get out of my comfort zone. Over the summer, I plan to do so many things to keep in shape. My friends and I are planning to join dance again, go for community runs, and play sports in the park. I also plan to complete my swimming.

The idea of exercising seems so easy but when it comes to actually exercising, some people might think it's harder than they thought it was going to be. Some barriers that might keep me from succeeding a healthy lifestyle is having time to exercise. In order to overcome this obstacle,
I plan to commit a certain amount of time each week just towards exercising.

Lastly, I just wanted to thank everyone who made this semester a blast. I want to thank the teachers of coming up with such enjoyable activities that kept me wanting to do them again. This semester was absolutely amazing. The knowledge and understandings I earned this semester will stay with me my whole life. I've been bought up knowing that a healthy lifestyle is very important and my parents set a very good example of this. I believe that eating healthy and being fit improves the quality of life immensely. To me, the education of fitness and being healthy means a lot and something I will need everyday. I thing I deserve an A for my final mark. I plan on continuing regular exercise even after P.E. is over. Leading a healthy life will always be on top of my list and I believe in myself that I will be able to maintain this goal. I'm proud of what I've achieved this semester and very lucky for having such great people in my class to share my achievements with. I will really miss having P.E. but also looking forward to using what I've learnt in the days to come!

The Amazing Race- PE 10 Edition!

For fitness on Friday, we did something a little different.
Instead if doing fitness at school, we went around the community to compete in the Amazing Race.
We paired up in groups of 2 to 4 and set off to find 10 things on a list that we needed inorder to win.
My group and I were able to find 8 out of the 10 things.
This activity was a blast. Even though we were running most of the time, it didn't feel like excercising at all!
I had so much fun finding things with my group! It was an aweome experience overall and I hope we get to do this activity once more before the end of the semester!=)

Final Beep Test

On May 28th, Tuesday, our class did the last beep test of the semester.
I was really proud of my score.
I felt like I achieved my personal best.
The first beep test that I did, I got 4.1.
On Tuesday, I got 6. I finally realized that if you push yourself,
you can achieve incredible heights.
I now know that your mind gives up a lot earlier than your body.
For some people in my class, this might have been their last beep test.
During the beep test, I kept telling myself that this is my last chance to get a good score.
I think it's important to set a goal to what you want to achieve at the end of every beep test.

Yoga in the Weight Room!

On Wednesday, we had the choice of playing volleyball, soccer, or hockey.
Instead of these activities, my friends and I decided to do yoga in the weight room.
We follow Bob Harper's yoga video and it really helped me relax.
I felt my muscles and spine loosen up and was able to think clearly throughtout the day.
I really enjoyed doing yoga and hope to do it more often because of all of its benifits.
Also, on Thursday, Mr.Vaughan took our class outside to play golf.
Other than mini-golf, I've never really played golf before.
With the nice weather, golf was really fun.
We played with modified golf balls that don't go as far as actual ones.
The goal was to try to hit the ball into one of the three bins for a special prize.
I wasn't able to get one in but I think that golf becomes a lot easier with practice.

Blogger, It's good to be back!

It's been such a long time since I last blogged!
For the future, I'm going to try to blog as often as I can.
For fitness on Friday, we did the pond run but a little differently.
We did relay races with four people in a group.
Once one person finishes a lap, they pass the bean bag to the next
person so they can do the lap around the pond. For every lap someone did, we got a ticket.
These tickets were then part of a draw for a prize.
I found this activity a lot harder than the ones we did in the past because
I got tired a lot easier. During my first lap aroung the pond, I tried to run as
fast as I could but got tired really easily. I think keeping a constant pace is the key to this activity.
Now that the weather is nicer, I love going outside for PE.
It's nice to get fresh air to start your day.
I hope that everyday the weather is nice so we can be outside more often.=)

Fitness, April 9th

For fitness, we did something new.
Mr. Vaughan created a new fitness activity
where we pair up on group of 3 and
each person does a different activity for 45 seconds.
After doing 36 minutes, I was really tired and red!
After school, I began to feel sore!
I enjoyed doing this activity a lot and hope we get to do it again!

Long Time No See, Blogger!

I haven't been able to blog ever since before Spring Break!
To catch up, I'll start with the week after Spring Break.
On Tuesday, we started with fitness by doing the pond run.
I got tried easily because I had only been somewhat active over
Spring Break. I had gone to dance every Friday but had been mostly traveling.
On Wednesday, we played a sport that combined soccer and rudby.
It was a lot fun, especially with the nice weather.
On Thursday, We play ultimate and this is now one of my favourite sports!
It's a lot of fun to play and the rules are really simple.
I hope we get to play this sport again once it gets sunny outside.
On Friday, we did circuit for fitness. I enjoy do this activity because it really tests you stamina.
I did stop a couple times but I know that next time, if I keep a constant pace,
I'll be able to run longer.
That concludes this week! I had a great time being outside, enjoying the nice weather
and hope we get to do more activities outside in the future!
